We are very glad to announce that our fundraiser is gaining momentum.
Over the last three months, over 200 individuals have become patrons of Sweny’s to help us afford the doubled rent.
The average donation amount is €5.50 per patron and the total amount raised so far is about €1,100 per month.
These numbers represent the love and care which our followers have shown us. It is an achievement of which we are all very proud, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who have shown their support so far.
Going forward, our goal is to reach €1,500 per month by Bloomsday so that the rent difference is fully covered. This means raising an additional €400 per month from small contributions. To this end, we continue to invite your readers to consider becoming a patron on our Patreon page.
The details of what we do at Sweny’s Pharmacy can be found from the link above. We are custodians of the little chemist shop where Leopold Bloom buys a bar of lemon soap in chapter five of Ulysses. As volunteers, we love meeting everyone who comes through the door, and together we can ensure that Joyce’s legacy continues to survive and thrive in the heart of Dublin.
