As all MylesDay fans know, this celebration of the life and works of Flann O’Brien/Myles na gCopaleen/Brian O’Nolan traditionally has been held annually on April 1st, in the Palace Bar on Fleet Street. This year, the date has been shifted to SUNDAY 2nd APRIL.  The reasons? Many & complex, but suffice it to say they involve international rugby syndicates taking their revenge on Myles for the opprobrium he heaped on that minority sport over the years. "Misses Liffey" is a new show devised and performed by Darina Gallagher and Sinéad Murphy. On Tuesday 9 May it will be showcased in a performance at 'The Workshop' (Kennedy's) on George's Quay. The Workshop is a confined venue so there will be only 20 tickets available. Tickets are priced at €10 and are available exclusively over the counter at Sweny's Pharmacy, Lincoln Place. Visit Sweny's as soon as possible to avoid disappointment!

Bloomsday is a commemoration and celebration of the life of Irish writer James Joyce, during which the events of his novel Ulysses (which is set on 16 June 1904) are relived. It is observed annually on 16 June in Dublin and elsewhere. Joyce chose the date as it was the date of his first outing with his wife-to-be, Nora Barnacle; they walked to the Dublin suburb of Ringsend.
